BIOGRAPHY Singer, songwriter and producer Surel is poised to expand the boundaries of R&B and pop with her powerfully unique voice and uplifting lyrics. Drawing inspiration from such diverse influences as Mary-Mary, Billie Holiday, and Lauren Hill, she blends her soulful delivery with a positive message rooted firmly in her faith. Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Surel is the youngest daughter in a Christian family that instilled in her, from an early age, the importance of a life centered on Christ. She considers herself a true southern woman, boldly independent and committed, first and foremost, to God and family. Surel's debut album For My Good was an amazing album. She had 3 hit songs including For My Good, My Vow To You and Saying Goodbye. She wrote or co-wrote all 13 tracks and had great producers on the album including Tonex, Tracey Carter and Ernie G. Surel is now working on her sophomore album which comes out in March and it's sure to be a success. Surel dedicates herself to taking her music to the masses with a compelling neo-soul style infused with her deep faith. She writes about everyday experiences real life drama and romantic relationships but transcends the negativity of much of today's music by bringing light, instead of darkness, to her audience, exploring life's challenges in thought-provoking ways. Surel lays it on the line without compromising her beliefs.
